The current business of Betapak Ltd was formed from the merging of several small Island businesses, each merger seeking to extend the product offering for our customers whilst gaining efficiencies through increasing scale.

The original Beta Pak was a family run packaging business, founded on the Isle of Wight in 1993. The business grew steadily over the following 14 years until the owners decided to leave the Island. The product range included: cartons, polythene bags & sheets, protective wrapping (such as bubble wrap, Kraft paper etc.), pallet wrap and strapping, a huge range of adhesive tapes, mailroom supplies (such as padded envelopes, mailing tubes etc.) paper bags, carrier bags (plain and custom printed), merchandising supplies (till rolls, price guns, display items), hygiene products (centre feed rolls, industrial rags, latex gloves etc.) and a range of catering disposables (paper plates, foam cups etc.) The company serviced over 600 customers with more than 1,000 lines of packaging products.

In April 2007, the business was acquired by a newly formed limited company, Betapak Ltd., as a basis for future growth and expansion. In August 2007, Betapak Ltd also acquired Medina Office Supplies; another family founded firm operating from premises on the same industrial estate. This enabled Betapak to extend their product range to include copier & coloured paper, a further 27,000 stationery and office consumable & durable items (from paper clips to computer peripherals), plus an extensive range of office furniture. In March 2008, Betapak Ltd acquired the assets of Total Hygiene Supplies (THS) also operating from Rookley Industrial Estate, and which was formerly a subsidiary of PM Supplies. This allows us to broaden our product offering by a further 800 lines of janitorial, cleaning, laundry, hotel amenities, care home disposables and catering requisites.

In July 2008, Betapak Ltd took on the Isle of Wight bags and boxes business from Bailey Polythene Ltd in Ventnor. This gave Betapak the capacity to do customised overprinting on carrier bags, cartons and many other items, plus fabrication of low volume polythene items to customer specifications, all on site.

In April, 2009, Betapak took over the Island Tea & Coffee Co. This well established company offered a complete range of specialist teas and coffees, plus coffee making equipment & general vending machines. In addition, they offer many thousand lines of catering durables, such as crockery, glassware, cutlery, kitchenware, bar equipment, plus larger items such as grills, hobs, ranges, refrigeration etc.

Also in April 2009, Betapak Ltd took over the business of Island Packaging. This enabled Betapak substantially to increase the range of catering disposables offered, and further built our efficiencies through increasing our customer base. In addition to growing our business through merger we have also been developing new categories in response to customer demand. We have established and built a comprehensive range of lighting products from fluorescent tubes to incandescent and low energy bulbs, including a wide range of “specialist” halogen and spotlight bulbs.

We have probably the most comprehensive range of first aid equipment on the Island from 50 person kits to single person kits, a comprehensive range of refills (so you don’t need to replace you entire kit when a few items have been used) and many associated first aid items.

And we have developed a good range of shopfittings, including slatwall boards, tegametal shelving, hooks, shelves and sundries. Whatever it is that you need for your business we want the answer to be YES! And with a product range well in excess of 100,000 lines, we can do that more often than any other Island supplier, a fact appreciated by more than 2,500 Island businesses who buy from us.
